15 Mar SAHPRA participates in 2023 SAAHIP Annual Conference
KwaZulu-Natal – The South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) has participated in the 36th Annual South African Association of Hospital and Institutional Pharmacists (SAAHIP) Annual Conference during 09 -11 March 2023, in KwaZulu-Natal. SAHPRA also had an opportunity to exhibit where information was shared with delegates about the benefits and importance of the Med Safety App.
Pharmacovigilance Manager Ms Mafora Florah Matlala delivered an engaging informational presentation on the importance of Pharmacovigilance and the Promotion of the Med Safety App. The presentation provided an easy-to-understand and detailed process of submitting a report using the app. Ms Matlala was able to engage with delegates (pharmacists from across the country) to hear their feedback and challenges with the Med Safety app. She accordingly explained solutions to their various challenges.
Delegates complimented SAHPRA on having an agile and robust system when reporting suspected adverse reactions.
Ms Matlala shared this important message to stakeholders, both public and the industry- “SAHPRA is here to police medicines, not people” as she encouraged healthcare professionals to report suspected adverse reactions using the Med Safety App.
